We all know that words like "shoot" and "darn" are getting old. Everyone else is swearing so why can't I? But do you really think God is okay with this, especially when it becomes a habit.
Many people swear because it is kind of what their used to. Its their response to stubbing their toe or seeing someone they don't like. But does this make it okay? I don't think so.
When I was around 11 or 12, that was when people started swearing. By the time I was thirteen, everyone was using swearing like it was a conjunction! People would be like "C'mon Amanda! It's not like its that serious. Its not like your taking drugs." but I would still keep my ground.
God's standards are very high, and only he can help you get there. Swearing is one of the things that bring you down. Instead pray to God about your swearing problem. If your swearing is really bad, you can get a swear jar (just kidding). But if it does come down to that, maybe you should try it!
Jesus excepts us to lead a good example. It may be hard, but you will be surprised at how much your actions can do by keeping your mouth zipped.
More bible verses on this topic:
