Christian girls and materialism

"Hey is that the new iPhone 6? Cool! And where did you get those shoes they are so cute!  Oh, and I just LOVE that scarf you have on..."
Yup, we can sometimes get carried away with the things of this world.  Fashion, technology, music etc.

We can get so carried away with our own wants and possessions that we forget about God's gift to us.  Did you forget about God's gift of eternal life? All teens struggle with this so don't worry.  God promises to fill our NEEDS, but notice that God doesn't always give you what you want.

The commandment states that you "shall have no other gods before me".  Some of us are thinking...
Well duh!  Why would I want to worship anything else?
But did you ever realize that you can worship your items too (gasp)!  Anything that you spend more time with then with God can be considered an idol.  This can include your phone, gymnastics, friends etc.
(NOTE: this does NOT include school.  God wants you to do the best you can in school)

So you are probably thinking "So God doesn't want me to use my phone anymore?"
No, God does want you to have fun and all but he doesn't want you to make it your first priority.

Just keep this in mind, phones become obsolete, clothes go out of style but the gift of eternal life will last forever!

Bible verses for this topic:
*Ten commandments (exodus 20)
*God fulfills your needs (Philippians 4:19)
*God will reward for the time you give to him (Mark 10:29-30)
*Things of this world won't last (1 John 2:15-17)

Thanks for reading, your views mean a lot to us and tune in every week for more topics like this!
