How to study the bible as a LAZY teen girl

Let's admit it, we all have TRIED to start reading the bible, but we get too busy or we don't stick with our plan.  Today I will be talking about why its important to study the bible, and how to make it easier for you.

First of all let's find the problems of why you don't read your bible everyday.

The hogger-
This person thinks "Well I didn't read today so I will read double tomorrow."  By the end of the week she has promised her self to read seven times the amount she was meant to read in a day to make up for the week.  Why is this wrong? Imagine it like a cake.  If you eat one piece a day, you can enjoy it much better then stuffing it all down your throat in half an hour.

The busy bee-
This person just gets so busy that she doesn't even have time to look at her bible.  Remember this, if you are too busy to spend time with God, you are more busy then God intended you to be.

The cheater-
My mom's way of studying the bible is she picks a verse and she meditates on it. This is okay but it doesn't work for everyone! So that means just flipping open your bible to a random verse and hoping that it will some how benefit you will not work!

The non-finished-
This person started a great plan, but didn't follow through with it.  Just like Jesus said, if you plan to build a tower but you don't plan it out and finish it, you will look like a fool.

Those are just some examples but I am sure that there are plenty more.

So let's get started with some tips 😇👉📖

Step 1: Finding the bible that suits you.
Not everyone knows what words like "thou" or "thee" mean so it is important to get a bible that you understand. The most popular one is NIV but I recommend getting a teen bible.  These are really good because they have little notes on the side that will help you understand the scriptures.  I personally use the true images bible because they take real life teenage situations, and show how they appear in the bible.

I DO NOT recommend using your phone.  Why?  First of all their are distractions...

You: Jesus said to the twelve "Will you also go awa-
(PHONE BUZZES)
You: OMG! It's Lizze's birthday I have to send her a tweet!
[scenario ended]
As you can see, your phone is a major distraction.  Also, the bible is a big book so 'free' bible apps are more likely to crash.  Finally, I feel that the holy spirit can influence you more through a real bible then though your phone.

Step 2: Finding the right time.
I personally read before I go to bed so then my bible reading connects with my evening prayer.  I also sometimes read before I go to school so it connects with my morning prayer. Some times I read before I do my homework so then I don't have the excuse that I had too much homework. What ever works best for you.

I know that one of my friends would read her bible while waiting for swim practice.  Its just finding the right time for you.  Reading the bible doesn't have to take up to one hour, it can even take five minutes.

Step 3: Finding a study method
I personally use a bible reading plan from the back of my bible. You can also find these at your church or on the internet.  Some go for thirty days and some go for the whole year!

One method I also tried is reading a chapter a day.  That's how I finished the gospels.  But some chapters can get really long while others can be super short.

There are plenty other methods but these are the two basic ones that I use.

Step 4: Studying tips.
I literally read the reading plan for that day and underline any bible verses that I find helpful for my life.  This is so when I am super busy, I can just flip through my bible and find those verses I underlined and revise them again.

Some girls like to highlight or scrapbook their bible, but some bibles have really thin pages so if you want to do that, make sure you use a thick page bible.

You can make a separate journal.  You can read your chapter and write what you think about it.

Or you can pray and read. Read the chapter and ask God to reveal what that chapter can do for your life.

Thanks for reading! Let's get this to 100 hundred views, so tell your friends! I hope you have been blessed through this post and don't forget to subscribe!
