This is happiness

I go onto the internet, there is so much to do.  I can copy, watch, look up and chat.  It really is a privilege to have the internet, and I really like that it's more available in my country now.

When I go on certain websites, people instantly talk about their problems and chaotic events.  They ruin the 'fun' of the internet for everybody with their unwanted rants.  Some of their 'problems' aren't even that big of a deal, but they still make it seem like the end of the world.
I see people that live in first world countries complain all day long, and yes, I realize every country has its pros and cons, but we need to learn to accept it.  No country is perfect, but some people don't understand this.
They forget to appreciate the good things in life, and instead focus on what's going wrong (they don't even think of a solution to their problem).
I see KIDS complain that their parents are too strict on them, when they don't realize that many kids don't have their parents.  I see people complain that the food doesn't taste good, but they don't realize that there are people starving to death in this world.
These people make themselves unhappy.  They rely on material things to make them feel better, and after a while, they are unhappy again.
Today, I went to the village.  Now in the village, people are dirt poor. There is almost no water (other then the slaty sea that surrounds them), there are only vegetables and fruits (and a few chickens, but not enough to feed everyone) and of course, there is no wifi.
Even though these people have almost none of the privileges we have, they are some of the happiest people I have ever met.  The kids are happy, even though their toys are tin cans and old tires.  They don't have iPads or iPhones, yet they are happier then most of the people (or kids) on the internet.
The atmosphere is positive too, nobody judges anybody.  Even though most of the village people are dirt poor, they will do ANYTHING to help you.  It's amazing how happy these people are, but they have nothing.
What I'm trying to say is, you shouldn't need material things to make you happy.
Maybe everyone is so unhappy because we focus on the things that will only keep us content for a couple of moments.  After that, we crave to find something else to satisfy our happiness.  Some people turn to complaining, or drugs, or violence.
But these people in the village didn't need anything to make them happy.  They were happy by themselves.  They appreciated the things they had, and to them, they were the richest people in the world.  They only needed each other, and I find that absolutely amazing.
This is what happiness is :)
